Tēnā koutou (Hello everyone). Did you know that aside from English, SpongeBob used to speak 25 other different languages?
He now speaks 26!
Over the last few months, SpongeBob, Patrick, Squidward and the rest of the gang from Bikini Bottom have been working hard to learn te reo Māori (Māori language) in celebration of Māori Language Week 2009.
We’ve been listening in and they are tau kē! (awesome!)
So, kua rite koutou? (are you ready to join us?)

Māori Language Week runs from Monday 27th July through to Sunday 2nd August. It was set up by the government over 30 years ago to encourage Kiwi’s like us to learn a little, or a lot of te reo Māori.
We’ve translated 5 episodes of which will screen during Māori Language Week. Between Monday 27th – Friday 31st EVERY Spongie episode we play with be SpongeBob Tarau Porowhā (SpongeBob SquarePants)

There’s a new episode each day, only on Nickelodeon, SKY channel 041:
Monday 27th 7.30am, 3.25pm, 6pm and 9pm
Tuesday 28th 7.30am, 3.25pm, 4.30pm and 9pm
Wednesday 29th 7.30am, 3.25pm, 6pm and 9pm
Thursday 30th 7.30am, 3.25pm, 4.30pm, 6pm and 9pm
Friday 31st 7.30am, 3.25pm and 9pm
